After a few months of going back and forth on whether or not to buy one of these Marathon CCG SAR divers, I finally broke down and bought one last week. It arrived today and I must say, I'm very pleased with my purchase (thanks again Erick!),

Fist impressions are very straight forward and to the point. This watch is all business, make no mistake about it. Even trying to "dress it up" with a great oyster style bracelet, does not take away from its utilitarian appeal. It glows as strong as any watch I've ever seen. Mine is a 2002 version with the 'improved' maraglow as I understand. When the crown is pulled out all the way, the stem/crown feels somewhat flimsy, as I have experienced with many other ETA movements. The fact that the crown is so large, probably has something to do with it. Having said this, the crown screws into the case very nicely.

I don't have my SD anymore, but this watch is at least as hefty, and is slightly heavier than my date submariner. It stands quite high off the wrist and the dial is recessed far below the sapphire crystal. This likely adds to the magnifcation of the date cyclops. It actually appears larger than my Sub's date.

The case is 14mm thick and the finish is brushed all around. The only part of this watch that is polished is the little flip lock on the clasp. This look works very well for this watch.

If you're going to buy this watch, then get the bracelet too. It's made of solid links and utilizes double end screws to hold the links together...very nice quality.

Regards,

JP
